Calling Fingal youth dance groups and companies interested in participating at the Irish Youth Dance
Dublin Youth Dance Company in collaboration with Draíocht Arts Centre and Fingal Arts Office are looking for youth dance groups and companies from the locality interested in participating at the Irish Youth Dance Festival 2019, to be presented at the Draíocht main stage on Saturday 29th June 2019.
The festival started in the year 2000 delivering exciting, highly physical and uplifting performances from a selection of up-and-coming Irish and International Youth Dance Companies and each year programmes masterclasses, workshops, informal showings and outdoor performances.
If you are interested in presenting your group or company at the festival, please send an email to Artistic Director of the festival Mariam Ribon to Info.firstname.lastname@example.org with a link of the work intended for the festival or a previous work.
Criteria for the group/company dance pieces:
• No longer than 7 mins for group pieces
• Up to 4 mins for solo work
• Maximum of 15/18 dancers
• Original dance choreography
• Priority to contemporary dance works
Although the Irish Youth Dance Festival aims to develop contemporary dance other dance styles will be considered.
Dance Residency and Young Creator’s Platform
As part of the IYDF activities we will be hosting in Draíocht a subsidized Dance Residency for young people between Monday 24th – Friday 28th June, creating a short dance piece. (Nominal Fee: €45)
On Sunday 30th June we will host the Young Creators Choreographic Platform giving the opportunity to young dancers to show their own work in front of an audience. (Free entry)
Transition Year Workshops (Spring/Summer 2019)
Dublin Youth Dance Company in collaboration with Draíocht Arts Centre and Fingal Arts Office will be hosting workshops for Transition Year students interested in dance and performance with the aims to develop a youth dance group affiliated to Dublin Youth Dance Company in the Fingal area.
The workshops will offer a taste of creative dance, focusing on group work and developing individual skill set for dance.
