Book Launch - Local Authority, European Perspectives on commissioning Public Art

Monday 30th of November 6pm, Irish Museum of Modern Art, Kilmainham, Dublin 8

A new publication published by Fingal County Council's Arts Office which investigates and contextualizes public art production within national structures. The research was developed in 2012 following Fingal County Council's International Symposium on public art, Commissions +, where a selection of international public art producers presented individual perspectives on processes and challenges of commissioning new work in local contexts. The publication also charts a European History of public Art's arts reception over time along with an overview of Fingal County Council's own approach to commissioning. The publication has been jointly edited by Daniel Jewesbury and Valerie Connor and includes essays by the editors, Professor Dave Beech, Cecile Bourne Farrell, Nouveau Commandataires, France, Maria Mur Dean, consonni, Spain, Nils van Beek, TAAK, Amsterdam.

The event closes Create- Ireland's Annual Networking Day for Collaborative Arts which features an exciting line-up of speakers to book a place at this event, please visit
