Drawing Day

Drawing Day at Malahide Castle and Gardens — The Best things in Life are Free!

If the best things in life are free than what could have been better than to join Fingal County Council‚ — Arts Office and a host of professional artists for lots of free drawing workshops to celebrate National Drawing Day, on Saturday 18th and Sunday 19th of May 2013 at the beautifully renovated visitors centre at Malahide Castle and Gardens.

Drawing Day is a National Initiative which promotes the practice of drawing at various cultural institutions throughout Ireland. Fingal Arts Office has programmed quality drawing events since 2009, and has toured Drawing Day throughout the county in order to reach as many Fingalians as possible.

This year we welcomed Irish Artist Carey Clarke to deliver Life Drawing classes in the tranquil Loft Room, Catherine Keher of Per Dozen design facilitated a ceramic design session with enthusiastic participants of all ages, JOR shared his skill for Graffiti Art with talented teens, and UK based illustrator Lizzy Stewart showed participants how to create their very own picture book full of fun characters and interesting tales inspired by the dramatic castle and gardens. Joining this fascinating group of creative individuals was botanical artist Lynn Stringer, artist Ciara O'Hara, and Orla Kelly and Deirdre Rogers who transformed the project room into a world of make believe for our youngest participants, the under 5's.
