A seminar event for professional illustrators exploring the range of opportunities available within illustration. Illustrators Inc. sets out to explore the many paths available to illustrators in developing their careers across a variety of sectors including publishing, licensing, technology and animation, as well as provoking a wider discussion about the place of illustration and illustrators within the visual arts locally and internationally. This panel discussion featuring Rod Hunt, Fig Taylor and Anna Hewitt led to a wide-ranging conversation covering how an illustrator can get involved in licensing their work across a range of formats.

12.30pm The Role of Illustration and Illustrators in the Visual Arts
With the popularity and renown of exhibitions such as Pictiúr, the new exhibition of work by leading Irish children’s book illustrators, shortly going on view at the Irish Museum of Modern Art, illustration is finding its way as part of the fine art canon. How can illustrators make the most of this? Fiona Kearney, Director of the Lewis Glucksman Gallery, University College Cork spoke about this.
2.30 Banking on Bologna
An introduction to the elements of Bologna Children’s Bookfair including how to submit for the open competitions, what to do in advance of the fair, how to approach attending the fair and what to expect when you get there with David Maybury, Chris Judge and Warren Buckleitner.
3pm Illustrating for Interactive Design
Warren Buckleitner joins to us to talk about how good illustration and design translates into quality apps and other interactive digital media, for adults as well as children.
4pm Animating your Illustrations
How Irish illustrators can make the leap into become internationally renowned filmmakers with Paul Young, co-founder and CEO of Cartoon Saloon and Pauline MacNamara, Commissioning Executive in RTÉ Young Peoples Programmes. Pauline spoke about Cartoon Forum as well as cartoons Joe and Jack, Tilly and Friends, Nelly & Nora and The Day Henry Met?
