Great turnout for the launch of Resort Residency, Case Study 1,Lynders Mobile Home Park, Portrane

The rain held off, the cakes were fresh from the oven of the local Leaf & Bean and members of the local community turned out in great numbers for the Launch of a new artist residency project Resort Residency, Case Study 1 at Lynders Mobile Home Park, Portrane. The crowd were treated to a performance by local singing group The Tower Singing Circle, their special performance of a newly written work titled "the coast of fingal" went down particularly well.Councillor Mags Murray, The Mayor of Fingal lent her support by launching the residency and added her own fond memories of the area. For the artists present it was a great chance for them to familarise themselves with Portane, meet some of the local residents and listen to the history of the area with historian Peader Bates. The event couldn't have happened without the help of the Lynders family who did so much to make everybody feel so welcome at park. The first artist Sean Taylor will go in on the bank holiday weekend and artists, curators and academics will be working at the mobile home until the end of September, participants include Vagabond Reviews, Gareth Kennedy, Andrew Carson, Kate Strain,Maeve Connolly,Mick Holly & Rhona Byrne. Will be updating here and on twitter @fingalarts
