Description
Following on from our session Towards Sustainability in Fingal in Oct 2014, which looked at developing and sustaining livelihoods, this session looks at ways and means of licensing the use of your images for various purposes. Aimed at visual artists, illustrators and designer makers this session is relevant to anyone who wishes to reproduce aspects of their creative output whether for commercial or fine art markets. With contributions from a gallerist, illustrator, artist, solicitor and visual rights expert and supporting contributions from DCCoI, Fingal Arts, Illustrators Ireland and VAI Staff.

10.00 Registration, Tea & Coffee

10.30 - Patricia Clyne-Kelly will facilitate a brief session on Costing & Pricing your time and your work giving guidance on entering negotiations with potential clients and establishing professional interactions and paper trails.

11.30 - Talks followed by Q&A with Steve Simpson / Illustrator; an Artist to be confirmed and Siobhan Riordan Managing Director Alan Ardiff Jewellery. Steve and Siobhan will provide varied and candid perspectives on how they have licensed creative work for different purposes and negotiated license rates and arrangements with varied clients.

13.00 - Lunch

14.00 – Brenda Tobin / Solicitor discussing copyright and intellectual rights relating to art work and designs as well as licensing agreements.

14.30 – Alex Davis / IVARO will talk about how IVARO collects rights on behalf of artists and their heirs looking at the RETURN right and Copyright in relation to visual works. There will be some discussion copyrights and intellectual property rights in relation to licensing; the licensing work undertaken by IVARO and insights on appropriation and fair dealing.
