Fingal Ardgillan Castle Studio Award 2023

Fingal County Council Arts Office in partnership Ardgillan Castle Ltd. is offering a funded studio space for a professional artist for the period of one year. The awarded artist will be given the opportunity to develop their practice and the offer covers the full cost of studio rental, utilities and administration. The residency will commence in July 2023.

The award is open to professional artists at all stages of their careers working in any artform. To be eligible to apply, applicants must have been born, have studied, or currently reside in the Fingal administrative area.


Artists wishing to be considered, should apply by emailing the following information to ardgillan.gallery@fingal.ie:           
1. A detailed CV (max. three pages). PDF document only. Maximum file size 1mb.
2. A brief description of your practice. Max. 300 words. PDF document only.
3. A covering letter detailing your connection to Fingal, intentions for the allocated period, including an artist statement and work plan, giving details of what materials and processes you use and any other requirements you have.
4 (a). For visual artists, please include up to six images of your work, no larger than 1mb each in size. Please also provide a list of images submitted on a separate document, clearly marked with the title of the piece and the medium and the dimensions, if applicable. File must be named in the following format: Artist Name_Artwork name or Artist Name_Image list. 

4 (b). For writers, please attach samples of your work (no more than three samples up to a maximum of 1000 words) as a single PDF document. File must be named in the following format: Author Name_Writing Sample.

4 (c). For video artists, please include a list of website addresses (e.g., YouTube or Vimeo) to access your work. File must be named in the following format: Artist Name_Website List.

The closing date for receipt of applications is 5th June 2023 at 5.00pm

Ardgillan Castle Ltd. and Fingal County Council are currently supporting 11 studio spaces for artists with a diverse range of artistic practices. Ardgillan Castle opened an art gallery in March 2023, offering a new contemporary artistic space in Fingal. The Castle also hosts a programme of theatrical and musical productions throughout the year. The Ardgillan Artists Collective is a group of artists who currently have studios in the castle. Some artist studios are open to the public and some of the artists also offer classes and workshops.
