Fingal Friday Forum 2022

Fingal County Council Arts Office is delighted to announce the return of the Fingal Friday Forum, an informal monthly get-together exclusively for Fingal artists.  Following requests from artists for the forum to continue, we recognised the importance of staying connected and providing support to artists through this initiative.

Curator, Advisor and Mentor Eamonn Maxwell will facilitate the sessions commencing with an introduction to the programme. Guest speakers will be invited to cover a range of specific topics, aimed at supporting, guiding and addressing artists' needs.  The programme for the forum has been developed in response to the mission of the Fingal County Council Arts Plan 2019 – 2025 enabling the creative and professional development of artists and in response to the feedback received from artists. It will offer an opportunity to connect and discuss themes from funding opportunities, taxation, professional development, environmentally sustainable practices to peer learning. 

The first session will be delivered on Friday 4th March via Zoom from 9.30am – 11.00am and on the first Friday of each month from Friday 1st April to Friday 2nd December and it is hoped there will be a few in person sessions.

The Fingal Friday Forum is free and open to artists from Fingal, working across all art forms.

Eamonn Maxwell has worked as a curator and advisor in the visual arts for over 20 years. He has curated numerous exhibitions across the world including the Irish Pavilion at the Venice Biennale in 2011. From 2009 – 2016 he was Director of Lismore Castle Arts, where he programmed significant exhibitions by leading international and Irish artists. He has been a passionate advocate for emerging artists, establishing the Emerging Artists Programme during his tenure as University Curator, University of the Arts London and he continues to mentor artists. Latterly he has worked as collection adviser to Arts Council of Ireland, Goldsmiths College London and private collectors. He has served as a board member, and sub-committees, for many not-for-profit cultural organisations. 

He has been a visiting lecturer at Crawford College of Art and Design, Trinity College Dublin, University College Cork, Ulster University and University College Dublin. He holds a BA (Hons) in Visual Arts from Camberwell College of Arts, London and a MA in Museum and Gallery Management from City University London. In addition, he has qualifications in corporate governance, marketing and fundraising for the arts.
